Re-Mastering the Master

Master bedroom before

Our Master Bedroom was in need of an update. To make it feel more modern, I tore down the wallpaper and painted the walls a light taupe color (just a shade lighter than the carpet). The room is quite large so the color really warmed it up and made it feel cozy.

Master bedroom after

Dave and I did a very simple but striking wall treatment on the large wall behind the bed. We painted it bright white and it really pops against the taupe.

We wanted a contemporary look so I changed out the dated hardware on the furniture for more modern brushed nickel handles. I introduced new chairs in a dark blue accent color and made pillow shams to match. I brought in a new bedspread, lamps, and a few new accessories. I even tried my hand at creating mosaics in the colors of my room to adorn one of the walls. This was a simple, fun, and rewarding re-design and it didn't break the bank!
